Paul and Ann Bidulak Family HistoryPaul Bidulak and his wife Ann and family resided at Hairy Hill where most of their children were born.Paul decided he would prefer to live in a more open country, and be nearer to one of his daughters from his first marriage (Mrs. Dora Kezemerchuk). In 1924 he purchased a quarter of land in Glendon and moved his wife Ann, and five daughters (from his second marriage): Vera (oldest) married Dan Olifirowich, now living in Evergreen near Edmonton. Sadie (second) married Joe Sabatier, now living in Bonnyville, Alberta. Mary (third) married Sam Tocheniuk, now living in Surrey, BC. Kaye (fourth) married Ed Byford of LaCorey, now living in Bonnyville, Alberta. Florence (youngest) married Joe Domagala of Bonnyville now in Red Deer. Mr Bidulak was a much older man than his second wife Ann. He took ill shortly after the last child, Florence, was born. This left Mrs. Bidulak and the five children very lonely and poor. In those days there was no such thing as welfare or widow's allowance, which made it very tough for the little woman with five small children. The children attended school whenever possible. She brought them up the best she could with very little help, until the two oldest girls, aged thirteen and eleven were on their own. The three youngest girls attended school until they were able to go out and earn their own way. Mrs. Ann Bidulak took sick at the early age of fifty-four, suffering from cancer. She passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital in Edmonton in 1944. By this time the girls were all married and on their own. |
